How Sugars Impacts Your Sleep

How many times do we indulge in an after-meal dessert? Pie, ice cream, cookies? Who wouldn’t like something sweet after dinner? Unfortunately, your body doesn’t.

Consuming large quantities of sugar can cause you to wake up in the middle of the night or sleep at a later time than usual. Eating too much sugar causes an energy crash, resulting in wanting to take an afternoon nap. A nap can throw of your body’s natural sleep cycle and too much sleep can actually be more harmful to your body. Sleeping too much can result in mind fogginess, tiredness, and mood swings.

To avoid these nap-inducing energy dips, avoid excess sugars and keep your blood sugar levels steady. This will help your body maintain its normal sleeping schedule. So avoid the temptations of sodas, sugars, and simple carbs. This will improve not only your sleep schedule but also your health.
